MRA
Service Coordination for Home and Community-Based Services (HCS)
Hill
Country
Community MHMR Center created this transition webpage in order to
provide information and resources for consumers, families, providers,
and other stakeholders who have an interest in the Home and
Community-Based Services (HCS) Program.
What is changing and
why?
Senate Bill 1, Section 48, 81st Texas Legislature, mandated the
Department of Aging and Disability Services (DADS) to transfer case
management functions in the Home and Community-based Services (HCS)
program from the HCS provider to the state's Mental Retardation
Authorities (MRAs). Implementation will occur statewide on June 1, 2010.
After June 1, 2010, people getting HCS Program services will receive
service coordination from their local MRA. All other HCS services will
continue to be available through HCS providers. Hill Country
Community MHMR Center (Hill Country MRA) is currently
preparing for this transition and will continue to provide information
and resources through this webpage.
In order to provide information to consumers and families receiving
services in the HCS program, Hill Country MRA will be hosting
informational meetings in Kerrville, Fredericksburg, San Marcos, New
Braunfels, Devine, Uvalde, and Del Rio. Click here for a
schedule of Consumer and Family Informational Meetings.
Consumers and Families can also learn more about these changes by
